How Get Grifters Works.

Shining a light on shady marketing with facts, not opinions.

1. Where Our Information Comes From

Everything on Get Grifters is built on public-record evidence.

We review material from places such as:

  • Regulators such as the FTC, SEC, Health Canada, and the FDA

  • Court filings and settlements in verified dockets

  • Official press releases and company statements

  • Credible news organizations with editorial oversight

We do not use anonymous tips, social-media rumors, or user-submitted reviews. If something appears on Get Grifters, it’s traceable to a published, verifiable source.

2. How We Maintain Scores

Each brand on the Watchlist carries a risk score that reflects its history of transparency, consumer trust, and regulatory behavior.

  • Evidence-based: Every point on a brand’s timeline links to a public source.

  • Weighted: Factors like regulatory action, safety issues, and complaint patterns contribute differently to the total score.

  • Evolving: Older issues lose weight over time if the company improves or addresses the problem.

  • Reviewed by humans: Before any change goes live, a researcher checks the evidence for accuracy and context.

Scores are not personal judgments, they are snapshots of public-record behavior at a moment in time.

3. Right to Reply

We believe fairness matters as much as accuracy. Any company listed on Get Grifters can request a review or clarification of its record.

To submit a response, include:

  • The brand name and URL in question

  • A clear description of the item you’re disputing

  • Supporting proof (press release, court filing, or regulator notice)

Send requests through our Right-to-Reply Form

All verified corrections appear publicly in the brand’s profile under Brand Response so readers can see both sides.

4. Why We Do It

Influencer marketing has blurred the line between advertising and advice. Our goal is to help audiences make informed decisions, and to help creators avoid partnerships that could damage their reputation.

  • We don’t rate products.

  • We rate behavior and how a brand earns or loses trust.

5. A Note on Our Method

We’re open about principles, not formulas. The data we use is public, but how we organize, weigh, and verify it is proprietary to the Get Grifters research model. This balance lets us protect our process while keeping our findings transparent and accountable.

Bottom line

Get Grifters exists to make influence more honest. Every brand earns its score through evidence, not opinion.
